Double Edged Sword July 6, 2010 Armando (FL, USA) When you spend $200 on a tripod you expect something that will blow your mind and what this tripod does is only satisfy. It does everything at an acceptable level pans are smooth, level adjustment is easy and the tripod is sturdy. The only thing that bothers me about the tripod is that I wish it could be a little taller or atleast had one of those cranks that let you raise the head up another foot. Another thing that really bothered me was that one of the rubber stoppers at the bottom just up and fell off. I wasn't too happy about it, but aside from that I have taken the tripod on two rigorous film shoots and it has done me well and I can say that she is a good friend even though she has her faults.
Love the Fluid Head May 20, 2010 Clay Cope (Seattle, WA) WOW! This tripod has a killer smooth head. I also have a MAnfrotto and the head is not near as good as this one. I would highly recommend this tripod to any videographer.
Good pan head but weight capacity is overstated February 17, 2010 Neal Hallford (San Diego, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is overall not a bad tripod if you intend to use it purely for a DSLR, consumer camcorder, or a lightweight professional video camera. When I attempted to use it with my Panasonic HVX205A and a Redrock M2, the approximate 15 pounds of weight was too much for the tripod and the legs all started slipping, despite the leg locks. I tried re-tightening the leg lock bolts, but 10 pounds is really about all this baby will reliably hold (as opposed to the 18 pounds that the specs suggest). Otherwise the pan head was very good, and had very nice pan and tilt with no wiggle. You'll appreciate the weight of the construction of the 7518XB, especially if you've owned older, aluminum models which can be a chore to lug around. Bottom line, if you want to shoot a home movie, you should have no problems with this tripod, but if you're looking to go semi-pro or pro, you should shoot for another, stronger set of legs.
Good sticks and smooth head February 17, 2010 J Pr (USA) Greatest range of height for a tripod of this price and stability, 2 1/2' to 5'2". Good metal construction. Smooth pan.
great tripod November 19, 2009 CZB I just used this tripod to shoot my music video. It worked great. very smooth. I did a lot of research and came back to this model and brand. Since bought from the internet, I couldn't handle it and was afraid of buying another product that I'd be disappointed in and would have to send it back. This product was one of those products I am pleased with. It is worth the price tag. [...]
