| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description With such a good ratio of compact folded length to extended open height, the Traveler is the ideal tripod to carry with you around the world. Gitzo's unique patented 180? folding mechanism accommodates the head inside the folded tripod legs and makes this the smallest folded tripod for its open size and number of sections. Matching this compactness with the sturdiness of lightweight carbon fiber and good speed in setup makes the Travelers the ultimate tripods.

| Customer Reviews: Absolutely over-the-top great tripod December 19, 2009 R. Kaufmann (San Diego CA USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
There are two kinds of people in the world. Those that think people who buy Gitzo tripods are out of their minds, and those that have held Gitzos, used Gitzos, loved Gitzos... We may be out of our minds, but happily so. To brass tacks:
This is a very light, very strong, and absolutely solid travel tripod. It's enough to handle anything under the big pro DSLRs (e.g. Canon 1ds iii, Nikon D3), or the big, macho telephotos. Basically, if you have to hire someone to help haul your equipment to a remote site, it's a good sign that you need a Gitzo GT3530S Series 3 Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber 3 Section Tripod. (Yeah, I've got one of those already!) And if you're a sports photographer, and spend a lot of time running around and just need to get a little stability (or shed some weight off your shoulder), a Gitzo monopod is your answer. (Yeah, I have one of those, too.)
I plan on using *this* tripod with my new Olympus PEN E-P2 12.3 MP Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens and Electronic View Finder, both with and without a panoramic head
Buy this with confidence that you have a lifelong investment; you'll want to specify who'll inherit it when you die. The purchase price only hurts once. After that you'll never look back, and will smile every time you use it.
The Ultimate Travel Tripod September 26, 2007 R. McCall (Los Angeles, CA USA) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
This tripod is great for almost any type of use, but ideal for travel purposes. It does have a weight limit so some of the supersized glass may have weight issues, but it is able to support my Canon 30D, battery grip and a 70-200mm lens.
The carbon fiber makes the tripod beautifully lightweight. I fit it through a loop on my Tamrac Velocity 6 sling bag (which is also a great travel item) and it just dangles behind me. Since it is so short when folded up I barely even know it is back there. If weight and size are an issue I can think of no better device. I am even buying my second one since my first got stolen.
Do not be deterred by the 5 section breakdown. When the tripod is folded up all five nobs per leg are so close that with one hand stroke I can grab all five, loosen and extend in one motion. Same with retraction. It is very quick. Not to mention how solid and strongly the legs work. You have to touch one of these to appreciate both its quality and abilities.
For those who care ... it is pretty damn sexy as well.
