Product Description The Sunpak 5800D Tripod is is a great economical tripod for lighter loads. It features a fluid-effect 3-way head that can tilt and pan smoothly, and also includes a built-in quick release system. Oversized, single action leg-locks make it fast to setup, and the geared control for the center column provides a secure way for raising and lowering of camera gear. It will comfortably hold most light SLR or camcorder equipment.

Great for travel, not as great for video. June 2, 2010 Macha This tripod is a great travel tripod, lightweight but extends to usable heights, and holds cameras steady. However, if you are looking to shoot video on it, be careful. Pans and tilts are relatively smooth, but it's a good idea to keep your image stabilization on to prevent any sudden jerks from ruining your video. For a plastic pan head though, it does it's job pretty well. However, if you have a sensitive microphone, or you are recording in a quiet environment, be careful, you will hear the plastic pan head scraping as it pans. The same goes for the cranking/vertical extension mechanism, it's pretty darn loud. For the price though, it's fantastic!
LIGHT BUT STRONG April 12, 2010 William T. Fennell (THOMASTON, GA, US) WELL MADE STRONG AND STABLE. HOLDS A SPOTTING SCOPE ASWELL AS A LARGE SET OF BINOCULERS.
Love it! April 9, 2010 Cheryl Patrick (Louisiana, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This tripod was everything I hoped and more. It is lightweight, collapses to about 2 feet and fits in the case it came with easily. Fully extended it is sturdy and stable. Okay, so the only time is was ever fully extended was when I first took it out of the box. You would have to be over 7 feet tall or standing on a stepladder to use it at it's maximum height!
I wanted a tripod I could stow in the car and carry with me on hiking trips. This little gem is so lightweight that, at the ripe old age of 48, I have no problems toting it up and down hills and mountains. The other reviews were all spot on and factored into my decision to buy this tripod. Thanks to all those who submitted feedback, it really made all the difference. I'm usually of the opinion you get what you pay for, and that cheaper is usually not better, however the word "cheap" does not apply here. If you are looking for an inexpensive tripod to safely hold your DSLR or camcorder, one that is light enough to carry around in the great outdoors, the Sunpak 5800D is the way to go!
Light weight & sturdy. Nicely priced March 27, 2010 Matt (New York) I found the tripod to be constructed in a very light-weight yet sturdy way. It's very simple to use. Again, it is well worth the money I paid for it. It came with a storage case too, although the case is pretty tight fitting and doesn't allow for storage of anything but the tripod (which is perfectly fine since that is what it was made for).
Sunpak 5800D Tripod March 22, 2010 Terry R. Walker (Woodland, Ca. USA) The tripod is sturdy and well built. Colapses to a smaller size making it good to travel with.
